The Story Thus Far

It’s been more or less 3 weeks since the first initial event that resulted in Dancing Silhouettes going down. The servers of our host domain went under some breaches and had to shut down for repairs, which on its own took close to a week or 2 (we’re really doggy on the time now sorry). After which at a certain point we were back online (this was on the 28th of June). However, we found that we had been breached once again, except this wasn’t a server breach but a site breach.
Simply put, we’d been hacked solid… and several (read: most) of the site had been fumbled with. BabseAketi was the one to notice this, and thus the best thing to do was to take down the site and give it a fresh, clean scrub from top to bottom… literally. The situation got so horribly wrong that we got flagged by Google as a malware site.

Now it’s the 6th of July, and we’ve finally managed to scrub the blog clean, which actually is a good and bad thing at the same time. You definitely would have noticed the state the blog is in… several links that are sided by blank square boxes, and in some places rectangular spaces.
Through some unfortunate turn of events the back-ups that had been made did not seem to click in, and now Dancing Silhouettes is plagued with spaces were our images once graced… like empty eye sockets on a head that isn’t rotten. This is a rather medium-sized issue with a God-knows-how-long resolution period, and we will keep working to get the images back to their rightful places. This will most likely be a long, tedious task and so results wouldn’t be overnight. Hell, they may not be seen till a week or more; we honestly don’t know.

What we do know is, we’re back online. And we plan on continuing with what we love and enjoy doing; providing you the readers with great content that keeps you coming back which results in us writing, editing, gathering and discussing even more great content to share. In the days to come, things will begin to change as we get to piece the puzzle back together, and that may result in a few hiccups here and there. You may experience either difficulty checking some posts out, opening images or maybe layouts will change and things will begin to appear.

Please bear with us.

We cannot begin to express how big our gratitude is towards those who kept checking up on us to know how we were doing, all the while keeping the Organized Randomness flame burning while we were chopping firewood. It means so much to us all… BabseAketi, Detanfy, Femi and Phylix.
While we celebrate-ish the blog’s return-ish, let’s not forget to give a big applause to Babse. He’s been putting so much effort in the rejuvenation of Dancing Silhouettes and had been the one speaking to the higher figures involved. At this point now, he’s sent a request to Google to get the malware tag off our site. That is quite a lot of work considering the other things he’s had on his plate in the past few days.
So yes, this is something like an official statement letting you all know what has been happening. As you can see, it’s been a rather infuriating, embarrassing, saddening and tiring row of events but so far we’ve dug out and are tending to the beds now. We can all begin to smile a little more.
