It’s nice to know when certain efforts pay off you know… Those little moments when you find out something you’ve been on paid off one way or the other. From beating highscores to acing that test, those moments count no matter how little the victory is.
And that’s why you see this coming up right here people. Yesterday (8th for later reference) I decided to do a little search experiment. Maybe experiment isn’t the right word to call it, considering it’s something I do on a somewhat regular pace. Either way, this experiment of mine is simple;
Enter Google Search and check the words ‘dancing silhouettes’.
Futile exercise considering I’m a writer on the blog and know the URL by heart right? Not so fast.
I do this now and then because I’m checking our page rank to see how far we’ve gone (I’ll get to that in a bit). Other times have given results that made me smile, but this time was rather different…
Yeah… DancilBlog is actually third place (the image search isn’t an entry) on Google Search’s first page if you check the words ‘dancing silhouettes’. That may not be that big a deal on first base, but those with a little knowledge and understanding about page ranks would know that in some ways (if not a lot), this is sort of a big deal.
This best way I can put it is this; there are several, and I mean several ventures and sites that are either named dancing silhouettes, or have something to do with dancing silhouettes, or have it as a subheading or something like that, and out of them all Google considers us (DancilBlog) relevant enough for a ‘dancing silhouettes’ search to have us in the third spot; especially after our rough patch and same Google flagging us as malicious sometime back.
Of course, it’s not all Google; we’re at that spot mainly because of you guys. Our readers, viewers, commenters, favorites and even our stalkers (boosha).
Even with us sounding like a broken record over how our plans get sour-pussed over the plans of higher ups (we’re talking relatives, work and school here people, not destiny) you still stick by, click, read and tweet/share from the site. Is appreciation in order? Oh yeah. You guys are awesome. How many more times do I have to say it? As many times as the need arises. So get used to it somehow.
