Its the Return of The Week So Far! [January 15th - 20th]

Well hello there true believers and loyal readers! Hows everyone doing? It’s surely been a while hasn’t it? I’ve been on a secret mission (Its  WAY above top-secret, actually) and I handed the reigns to the rest of the amazing Dancing Silhouettes writers. We aren’t even a whole month into the year and lots of interesting events have been going down all around the world; the Occupy movement in Nigeria, The SOPA bill and the recent demise of Megaupload come to mind. In any case, I’m glad to see everyone healthy, happy and hopefully ready for the weekend!

Lets see what our writers had for you this week.

Of course, I’m sure everyone is up to date with the Occupy Nigeria movement? Well if you aren’t make sure to check out the series of posts by our writers on the situation. Phylix stats us off with a look at the occupy movement in Ibadan with a quick follow-up post by Babse Aketi who was right in the middle of it all! Babse took some breathe taking pictures. Simply Amazing stuff! Do yourself a favor and check them out!

Of course the President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan responded to the citizens protests with two speeches. Make sure to read the full text of the first and second speech. Things might have died down a bit but make sure to keep yourself in the loop!

Detanfy decided to bless us with two (probably out of a Hundred) songs he enjoyed this week; First up Detanfy highlights new rapper Schoolboy Q’s infectious jam “Hands on the Wheel” which features A$AP Rocky. Detanfy quickly follows up with a feature of Drake’s song “Crew Love” from his latest album Take Care. It’s a nice little jam featuring new school RnB sensation The Weeknd. Also if you are interested in Coachella 2012, make sure to check out the line up.

I admire Phylix’ sense of humor! Only he can find hilarious yet oddly dark jokes like this one featuring Peter Parker and J. Jonah Jameson favorite choice of rice; it hits a little too close to home for Peter. Detanfy also comes in with this chuckle-worthy picture showing the Evolution of Dance over the years. Its one part hilarious, and one part social commentary! I gotta say, Detanfy is right; the club truly has become the devils mating ground!

In some tech related news, Yahoo! Co-FOunder Jerry Yang resigned in the middle of the week, Temple run is (FINALLY) coming to Android devices in February and a bunch of ill-fated Canadians bought iPads but got lumps of clay instead. Of course Wikipedia and a bunch of other websites shutdown in protest of the now dead SOPA: Stop Online Piracy Act. I’m sure a whole lot of people went to school with incomplete assignments during the 24 hour Wikipedia blackout.

Finally, Detanfy is pretty estatic that his favorite anime series Eureka Seven is getting a sequel series called Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean. I’m sure Detanfy will have reviews and first impressions for you when the show premieres sometime in April.

And that is pretty much it for this week. Very busy week indeed! Now to relax and enjoy the upcoming weekend.

We have something very interesting planned for our readers in the coming week. I think both old and new readers will be excited to see what we have for you all on Monday, but I’ll be back to personally fill you in on the nitty-gritty on Sunday. Keep an eye on this space. And expect some awesome poems from Proteus92!

Besides that, I’d like to ask, what would you dear readers like to see on Dancing Silhouettes? Any specifics you would like us to cover? Anything we should know about? Sound off in the comments and let us know!

While I still have your attention, let me remind you to subscribe to Dancing Silhouettes so you can get the latest news sent directly to your email without having to constantly check the site.
